Complete Streets

For years, residents of the Historic Black Community of Guilford were isolated. When they walked their dogs or to get exercise, they would often walk in small circles on the only side streets that were accessible to them. Even in Columbia, which has over 90 miles of walking trails, families had no access.

PATH worked with the Horizon Foundation to hold actions with elected officials where they experienced first-hand the lack of pedestrian options, and the dangers of streets without sidewalks. We worked together to get the county to install sidewalks, accessible bus stops, and bike lanes to provide a higher quality of life and opportunities to participate in the broader community.
